Sandra Millers Younger
Sandra Millers Younger grew up in North Carolina in the 1950s and ’60s, a place and time when people still sat down together and swapped stories over fried chicken, apple pie and sweet tea.
As an English and journalism major at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, Sandra studied stories—what makes the great ones great, how to find them, and how to share them in powerful ways that make a difference in the
world.
Eventually, she ended up with two degrees in journalism—a bachelor’s from UNC and a master’s from Syracuse University. By then she’d already written hundreds of stories for newspapers and magazines.
She kept at it, telling thousands more stories about all kinds of people—from school kids to scientists, celebrities to CEOs—and all kinds of subjects—from laser beams to garden mulch, Spanish architecture to Newfoundland dogs.
Finally, Sandra told her own story, in a first-person, narrative nonfiction book called,
The Fire Outside My Window: A Survivor Tells the True Story of California’s Epic Cedar Fire.
Now, as founder and chief story strategist at Strategic Story Solutions, she helps others discover their story power. And use it to change the world.
