Dr. Mitsie Vargas received her DVM from Tuskeegee University in 1994. In 1996, she established her AAHA accredited Orchid Springs Animal Hospital inWinter Haven, FL. In 2009 she started her studies at Chi Institute, eventually garnering certifications in Acupuncture, Food therapy and Tui Na. She is an assistant teacher at Chi Institute and a TCVM consultant for Disney Animal Kingdom. She is also a certified veterinary journalist and has published hundreds of articles including her Sunday newspaper pet care column. She serves as an AVMA Spokesperson for Hispanic market and has recorded many PSA’s and radio interviews promoting responsible pet ownership. Her passion for helping animals and her voluntarism has awarded her state and national recognition. Among her awards are the Purina National Pet Care Award, Bay News 9Medical Hero Award, Bright House Regional Business Award, Girls Inc. “She knows where she is going award” and the FVMA Gold award. Dr. Vargas has been selected as a top finalist in America’s Favorite Veterinarian 2015.
