Jeff Powell
Jeff Powell was stationed in California, serving the U.S. Navy Seabees, when he became disabled. Upon his discharge, his commanding officer made a final, parting request. He asked Jeff to continue supporting U.S. military men and women, and his nation’s future veterans.
Jeff accepted the challenge gladly and committed wholeheartedly to it. Since then, helping others has become his life’s mission. The words of Jeff’s CO remained clear to him even during the difficulties he had adjusting with his disability, the hardships he encountered readjusting to society, the time he spent homeless, and the years he spent caring for his ailing mother.
Jeff eventually established: VerifiedSupporter.com, a non-profit organization. It’s a resource and community forum for all matters veteran. From there, he established other web sites which also serve as helpful resources, including sites dedicated to helping veterans launch successful online businesses.
One of Jeff’s sites is Books4Veterans.com. After leaving the military, Jeff attended college to deal with his disability and soon exhausted his book stipend because of the exorbitantly restrictive cost of books. Consequently, he created: Books4Veterans.com as a place for veterans and other college students to buy, sell, or donate used books. Books4Veterans.com aims to make the continued studies and self-improvement efforts of our veterans a little easier, and a whole lot more affordable.
The “4Veterans” concept is Jeff’s brainchild, or rather heart-child, and his mission is simple: To bring people together – business, government, and veterans – to help and support each other. Jeff likes to say that, together, we can all lend a hand and weather any crisis.
Apart from Books4Veterans, Jeff has dedicated his life to developing many other projects (or “hobbies” as he prefers to call them) for the greater good of all military veterans, their families, and their communities. To date, Jeff has pioneered these veteran initiatives:
Verified Supporter at: www.verifiedsupporter.com Books4Veterans at: www.books4veterans.com Homes4Veterans at: www.homes4veterans.com Running4Veterans at: www.running4veterans.com
Military Veteran Entrepreneurs at: www.entrepreneurveteran.com Entrepreneur Inside at: www.entrepreneurinside.us
“Serving the community,” says Jeff, “is a state of mind, the kind of passion that carries you day-to-day, and that is what drives me every day throughout this journey.”
Although life has many challenges, Jeff is one of the most courageous, motivated and dedicated people supporting veterans in the United States today. Jeff truly has the passion for, and a deep insight of, what it takes to help his fellow veterans.
And there is a bittersweet twist in Jeff’s life story. Shortly after Jeff’s son Jeremiah was born, Jeff lost his mother to a prolonged illness on Independence Day of 2014. Jeff was unwaveringly at her side until the end, and his mother, an avid veteran supporter, left Jeff a final request: “Keep up your good work, my son. Our country is proud of you!”
