Josh McWhorter

Starting his career with Capstone Financial in 2003, Josh Mc- Whorter earned “Rising Leaders” status in his first four months with the firm. This was a first in the firm’s history. McWhorter went on to work with a community bank, serving as the lead investment advisor for individual clients, growing that business 900% in three years. In March 2009, McWhorter founded Black Oak. In three years time, Black Oak has grown to nine team members and has been featured in The AJC, SmartMoney, MarketWatch, US News & World Report and CBS 46 of Atlanta. WcWhorter wanted to be more than an advisor. He wanted to positively affect the communities he served by leveraging time, money and relationships. More important than growth and accolades, the vision of what Black Oak would become is being realized. McWhorter continues to serve on numerous committees at his church, Cartersville First Baptist, and also serves on the board for Advocates for Children. Black Oak supports Advocates for Children, Bartow County Women’s Resource Center, The Etowah Scholarship Foundation and The Good Neighbor Homeless Shelter, only to name a few.
